    Chapter 3: Are You Ready?

Good morning, everyone! Since Chapter 3 is an immensely short chapter, I would like to encourage everyone to take the quiz/self-exam, and then I'd like you to discuss your results here. This will determine how much youll really get from the book and your weight loss.

Since Chapter 3 is so short, I'd also like to encourage everyone who hasn't yet to please review Chapter 2, and if you haven't contributed to the Chapter 2 thread, to please consider doing it this week or in the future, either mentally or by physically posting. We all learn from each other, and there are no right or wrong answers. There is no , "It's already been said so why say it again", or "I'm the only one who feels this way so what's the point?" You might think you are alone, but this is a board of many, many people. Chances are, there are quite a few who feel as you do regarding what you write, or that you'll write it in a new way that touches someone. Your feelings only validates what many of us are feeling.

For this week, please, take the Readiness Profile in Chapter 3 and review Chapter 2 if you haven't already.

Questions you might ask yourself based on Chapter 3:

    1. How did you score? Please share the number.

    2. Please share what you read in "Interpreting Your Score" and how you feel about that.

    3. Do you think you would have scored differently a month or a year ago?

    4. I also like that Dr Phil ends with the statement "Expect Success".
    What are you expecting?

    I scored a 16.

    2. Please share what you read in "Interpreting Your Score" and how you feel about that.

I feel like it's pretty right on. I tend to be a bit of a "crossroads person" so barely making it out of there doesn't surprise me. I can't commit to liking myself quite yet, and putting the big clothes out when I like how baggy they feel is probably a bad thing. And I won't quit my full-time job as a SAHM because there is food in my house that I can't eat.

    3. Do you think you would have scored differently a month or a year ago?

Oh yeah! I took this test a year ago when I weighed 325 pounds and I was definitely fence-sitting. Luckily, the fence made it. And so did I.

    4. I also like that Dr Phil ends with the statement "Expect Success".
    What are you expecting?

I expect that in a year from now, through some trial and some error, while getting to know my body better and what I can and cannot tolerate, I am going to be closer to my goal! I will be much more fit than I am now, and I am going to have my head in the right place to keep this weight off. Do I expect success? You know what? I DO! I can say in all honesty that I will reach my overall weight goal. I am thankful for my family and my family here at ADBB, who help me to realize that what I'm working for is really within grasp. And I'm thankful to Dr Phil for helping me to wrap my feeble brain around the obvious fact that no one is going to solve my problems for me or lose my weight for me but me! What a wonderful bit of empowerment that really is.

Thanks Cleo. I took the test twice and scored differently each time. I will go back to the ch 2 thread and post there for that.

And then start on this thread.

Sounds great, Woman! I know this chapter is short. The next one won't be!

Questions you might ask yourself based on Chapter 3:

            1. How did you score? Please share the number.
            I scored a 14.

            2. Please share what you read in "Interpreting Your Score" and how you feel about that.
My interpretation made sense to me. He talks about being ready for a change, and having deeply considered it for a long time, but getting stuck in the planning and going to phases. That is me. I used to very decisive, and lately I cant get dressed without changing my clothes five times.

So while I KNOW this is what I want, what I need, and ultimately, where I will be, I am learning to get out of the boat and start walking on the water so to speak.

            3. Do you think you would have scored differently a month or a year ago?
Yes. I think a month ago, I would have scored higher. Emotional/personal crap is taking a toll on me. A year ago, I would probably have scored higher too. I am almost at a point to just drop it all, and say, skip it, until all this other stuff is over.

            4. I also like that Dr Phil ends with the statement "Expect Success".
What are you expecting?I dont know what I am expecting. I really don't. I wish I did. I probally expect to fail, but I am trying to beat that voice to a bloody pulp. I have to say that this is pretty back burner with everything else right now... that whole just forget it mentality again. Being willing to be willing is what I have right now.

Questions you might ask yourself based on Chapter 3:

              1. How did you score? Please share the number.

              I scored 17.

              2. Please share what you read in "Interpreting Your Score" and how you feel about that.

I felt that my score was "right on target." I am at ZERO hour. I finally reached the point where "it hurt too much to keep things the same." [Someone once told me that you will continue to do the same things over and over until it becomes too painful, only then will you change.] I got to a point where I was terrified to get any heavier. Now, I have so much passion for getting to my goal weight and maintaining it. I feel so in control of my eating - for once!!

              3. Do you think you would have scored differently a month or a year ago?

I KNOW I would have scored much lower a year ago. I don't believe my score would be different one month ago, however.

              4. I also like that Dr Phil ends with the statement "Expect Success". What are you expecting?

I expect success!! It's really weird, and I know it shouldn't be, but I KNOW I'm going to succeed. That's different for me because I'm not usually so positive about things. But I have faith in what I have chosen to do: eat right (Atkins WOL) and exercise. I am so proud of myself for believing in myself.

Yay! You guys posted! I was starting to think the next 9 weeks were going to be incredibly lonely ones, indeed! *lol*

{{{woman}}} You know what, my borg sister? I know what I expect success of you because I see great things. I see beauty, strength, caring and courage. That is what I see in you. Even if you don't see it, I do. And sometimes it takes someone else seeing what we don't see or don't believe in order to start believing it ourselves. I believe in you.

{{{punkin_kid}}} Whoa, Miss 17! You're rocking the house! I've been watching you for awhile now. You have so many reasons not to make it on this way of eating and yet you just keep going and are so amazing! Nothing can knock you down! Nothing! I know you're a butt-kicker!
