      Re: Buddy List July 7-13

hey guys, it's 3:30 am monday morning, sunday started out ok, but rest of the day not so good. i developed a huge headache sometime during the afternoon, and couldn't seem to shake it the rest of the day. there is only one thing i can think of that may have been a contributor to it. i somehow pulled a muscle in my shoulder on wednesday or thursday, and by friday it was killing me. i ended up taking a total of 6 ibuprofen on friday, must have had caffiene in them, cause the headache seemed to feel like one you'd get from not having any caffiene.

DH and i went for a 20 min bike ride, but had to stop because my head was pounding so bad. ended up coming home and was asleep by 9 pm on the couch, and just woke up a little bit ago. headache is gone, but ended up taking an aspirin before i fell asleep, gonna have to look for a pain reliever w/o caffiene tomorrow.

didn't do very well on food sunday, had to force myself to eat, and didn't eat near enough carbs. i stayed on plan, just didn't get enough food in, only enough to sustain my hunger. gotta go stock up the fridge again tomorrow, and get ready for the new rung. i kinda forgot that you could add more than one new food at a time when starting a new rung, just so long as you don't eat it more than 3 days a week. (was re-reading some OWL stickys and found that info)

well, my sleep pattern is off it's now 4:15 am , and i'm feeling like doing some laundry and dishes, then may try to get a few more hours sleep before actually starting my day, so i'll check back in later.

      have a good one,
      monie

Wow, Monie, never thought about ibuprofen having caffeine, of course it wouldn't be listed on the label either, I'm sure. hmmm.

well, as much fun as my bike ride was, it sure kicked my butt! I still cant believe how out of shape I am from last summer's bedrest, etc. It felt good though, I could really tell that it worked my thighs, butt, stomach, my entire core, actually. Who needs pilates? LOL! I am looking forward to the results after the 6wec. Looks like lawn mowing day again today, will ride bike tomorrow. All your road rash and my little pony stories had me giggling!! Bf rode his new bike yesterday and unfortunately, his knee popped out a couple of times, but it does at any given time anyway, so he is still going to stick with it.

Speaking of bf, my jaw just dropped when he came out to breakfast this morning, his size 34 work pants were so big on him, he had to totally cinch up his belt. I can tell he feels so proud!! Looks like he lost 3/4 of his belly. He is down to 178 from 195, and we will be a month in on Friday, I am so poud of him!! Amd the new way of cooking has been fun too! I am really enjoying all the new recipes and learning to eat LC for the long term.

BTW, I have looked over and over for some LC protein shakes for him.. anyone know what they are and where to find them? He is more the type that would like to grab a shake on the run in the am. Also, every dessert recipe I have tried with chocolate have all been flops. We tried the brownies off Linda's site, bleah!! I had to take a little taste, they were gross! How the heck do yall do chocolate LC??

Yeah, super busy with the last few weeks of this class, worked my butt off yesterday, going to again today too. Will check in later!! Hope everything is well!!!

BTW, I am committing to drinking 5 20 oz bottles of water each day. I have been a little lax in this dept! And all I have are 20 oz, so I will be going a little extra then!!

            Re: Buddy List July 7-13

            Good morning.

Okay...we started this at the end of the last thread..do you have a goal for the week? Will posting it here help you to become accountable? Let us know.

            Goals:
Elsie - 10 cups of water every day
Cori - 10 cups of water every day
Vanessa - 10 cups of water every day

I can see I picked one that several of us are having trouble with. I will tell you that I truly believe that drinking all my water....12-16 cups...last time played a huge part in my success last time of losing 60 pounds in 7 months.

Monie....glad your headache is finally gone. One thing I notice on the WOE is that my headaches and migraines have all but disappeared. I used to get several headaches and at least one migraine once a week before. I would well over exceed the Ibprophen as I would take 3 at a time every 2 1/2 hours. I now only sometimes have a little teeny tiny one when I wake up and it goes away just by getting up and moving around.

Val...wow...BF is doing awesome!!! How much more does he want to lose?? He may want to think about hitting the gym and lifting some weights now to tone. You should read ahead in the book on pre-maintenance. You guys are going to be such a hottie couple! Not that you aren't already miss I can get into medium scrubs already. If you read the boards here a lot of people say that the ready made LC shakes stall them. I think it is because of all the preservatives and thinkners that need to go into them to give them shelve life. I have been making my own and I have to say that it is not any quicker really than say...bringing out a piece of quiche from the fridge and nuking it....I cut mine up into individual servings and pop them in the freezer and bring out the kind I want the night before. This way I can switch the kind of quiche I am having around. In fact it takes a little longer because I have to get my blender to grind the ice. That being said...it is a nice change. I use Exact
Whey Protein Isolate...have you checked out Walmart in the pharmacy section? Or you could go to a body building store. Watch the ingredients. Mine says sweetned with Surcalose but shows 1 gram per 3 scoops of powder. I only use 1 scoop in my shake. The shakes do add protein and are a bit calorie dense if you are using the heavy cream in them as well and it is easy to get over 3-400 calories in a single drink.

Hey Val...you don't need to have a water cooler to buy one of the big containers of water. My SIL before they bought their water cooler got the big container (what the heck is the word for it??) and would pour out of that into a jug and put the jug in the fridge to keep it cold. WAY cheaper! And you could refill some of your water bottles and keep some of them in the fridge too. Great for on the go as you know..and still cheaper.

I actually got a pur water tank thing that I keep in my fridge and I love it.
                PUR 2-Stage Dispenser : Target
Also, sheila has good recipes for shakes on her site:
Sheila's Low Carb, Atkins & Induction Friendly *ORIGINAL* Recipes Page!
I posted that in the protein powder thread too. The "Easy Breakfast shake" is really good and its induction friendly.
Monie, sorry about your headache. I get migraines sometimes and its awful. If you hare having trouble geting all your carbs in you might want tp try eating higher carb veggies. I personally eat a lot of pumpkin because I love it plus you can have it a a deesert. Spaghetti squash is another good one too.

                    Howdy Bud's!!

Couldn't post last night--too tired--lifting 24-80 pound bags of concrete did me in--but it's done (with much needed help from DW).

challenge sounds great!!! --leaving on a business trip tonight tho..
cheese factory in WI. not sure what i can do yet...this is the first of many trips since starting atkin's..but I'm ready for it

hope I can still post to this board tho!

Love the bike idea!!! my goal too..I will get DW's bike ready too and my DD already has that gleem in her eye..think we'll be ready soon!

WTG Study!! if I can get thru 6 WEC with 10 or less slugs I think it will be o.k.--have not done this in 8 years--but will try my best.

I have a 5 Gallon Whey drink mix--wasn't sure if Whey is considered cheese or milk? either way wanted to wait till dairy rung--description of whey on internet sounds like--- YUCKO!

recieved a huge $bill$ for a scale today..half the size of the bathroom and reads everything even the moon phases..Hmmm wonder where DD got the idea to "must have" this???

Hi all, I mowed the lawn this morning, what a job! It took about an hour in the baking sun, so I'm counting that as my exercise today! Coworker of mine is in the hospital so I'm taking all her shifts this week.. so work everyday.

newleaf - welcome to the family, look forward to getting to know you!

Haven't drank ANY water yet, I'm gonna go now and down at least 5 cups...

monie - I got a caffeine headache yesterday, had three shots of espresso teehee

                              Check in later buds!
