I'm turning it down to 100 - 150 is too many to catch up on if I forget or get ill.

        So 3100 it is

I'll do 100 every other day. That's 1600 for me! I noticed that most of you guys do your abs every day but I heard that you should actually include a rest period of 48 hours (ie: abs everyother day). Is this true?

100 a day for me, Jane!!!! 3100 for the month!

I've read that the ab muscles recover very quickly, so it's just fine to work them everyday. Even in some of my workout videos, the "instructor" talks about workin' daily. Tony Horton from Power 90/Beachbody workouts come to mind.

I've been doing some research and it really sounds like there are two schools of thought on the subject. In other words, there is no clear cut answer because some say you need rest and others say you don't need the rest period. Here's a pretty good Q&A on the subject. He first lists some cited summaries of Pro rest material then lists some cited summaries of Con rest material.

Hi Jane, sign me up for March please
I don't want to look like that man, but that woman sure has a sexy stomach lol
I'm putting myself in for 3200 abs, which will be 200 x 4 days a week approximately or thereabouts.

Should or could we do them daily? I'm not sure. I think that everyone is different.
I have been doing abs every single day from the beginning of October last year and I'm so glad that I started around the beginning of Atkins for me.
February I decided to try alternate days. Simply so I could work at more intensity and I do need a break in between 200 at a time! It hurts, still, even after a whole month. I did manage to achieve a 29inch waist this month (from a starting 42inches ughhhh) so there's always a positive for lots of hard work

Just my $0.02 worth today lol

adios to 79 inches so far on Atkins! I've lost over a vertical jimmiejo

Re: March Abs Challenge - Sign up and Report Thread

I think it depends on how your abs feel as to whether you work them everyday or not. I try to give at least a day's break for intense leg weights because it hurts, but with abs I never notice the fatigue from the day before, even if I did 200 the day before. If they hurt just standing there or after 5 or so, then a rest day is probably a good idea.

My abs don't seem to hurt at all anymore - I need to make it harder, but just adding numbers doesn't seem very effective. Raising my knees helps, but I'd really like to do them on an incline, but don't have access to one - any suggestions?

Baarb - A really good exercise I picked up from an abs class one time was to lie on your back, arms stretched out behind your head holding a weight of some description - I use a bottle of water at home!! then raise your head and arms up a tad, then pull your knees up to a right angle position and extend one leg out then bring it back and alternate legs!! Like a scissor action!! lol does that make sense????? You can really feel it work!! I'll have to do some videos like Kent did, but for abs exercises!!! lol

Last time I pledged 100 4 times a week. So to challenge myself, I'll do 100 4 times a week for the first part of the month, then 150 4x a week for the last half of the month. So by my birthday on March 30, I pledge to do a total of 2350. Wish me luck!!

I rest one day in between, but if I were doing it two days in a row, I'd concentrate on lower abs one day and upper abs the next.
